My blog doesn’t contain any generation-defining writing, and I’m not clever enough to have my posts featured on one of those advertising sites. But I do like to take photos of my food and pretend that people care about them, and moan at a few shocking adverts that I’ve seen. What Rory Ate

Wedding Stationery

We had two ‘events’ (the wedding itself in Portland, and a reception in North Yorkshire), so the invitations were rotatable. And for all the type geeks out there, one typeface was English and one was American. Every piece of stationery featured our silhouettes.

ITV Rugby World Cup 2011

We realised that the Rugby World Cup offered an opportunity for ITV to increase their credibility in sports provision. We split our campaign into two main sections, both focusing on ‘what it takes to win’. For the first part we worked with Spencer Murphy to shoot the four world cup winning pundits: Lawrence Dallaglio, Michael Lynagh, François Pienaar, and Sean Fitzpatrick. We asked them their thoughts on ‘what it takes to win’, and their quotes were illustrated by I Love Dust. These ran pre-tournament and pre-game. (A portrait of Dallaglio from this series has been accepted into the permanent collection of the National Portrait Gallery.)

The second part of the campaign ran post-game: we created a series of ‘tactical print ads’. They were a real challenge to produce and supply in such a small amount of time. The day started with us watching the game in the ITV studio, and interviewing Mr Dallaglio and friends immediately after the final whistle to get their thoughts and opinions. We then designed and supplied the final artwork, all in under six hours.

Dunlop

The shoot was a disaster, which you can read about here if you so fancy. Anyway, we re-shot the print in sunny Brighton, and here it is. The fantastic Ben Stockley used his camera wizardry to transform southern England into something altogether colder. ~~(God knows when we’ll do the telly.)~~ I’m pretty sure we’ll never do the telly.

England vs Wales

Working with photographer David Clerihew we shot this image at Twickenham, the home of English rugby. (We accidentally dyed Haskell, Hape and Wilkinson’s kit pink with all the red smoke). This was used in both print and OOH.

Brendon & The Pink Monster

The film is about a monster with a penchant for pink who lives under the bed of a young boy called Brendon. The monster leaves Brendon messages in envelopes too. I decided to do a series of posters focusing on these aspects of the story. I won’t spoil the plot for you.
